Default Staking the Spike!

Hello, how do you add the stake for the spike without stabbing the roots in the medium? I don't want to put a spear through the roots that we're so pain stakingly trying to grow! Gosh I never worried about a plant this much before I started in the orchid world a few months ago! LOL!

Insert the stake gently, if you feel resistance, move the stake around a bit until it hits the bottom of the pot.

Just gently coax the spike into the media, or between the pot and media/roots. If you are having that much trouble finding a space in the media with no roots then your plant has PLENTY of roots to spare. Otherwise, just squeeze it in there and don't worry too much about it.

gently squeeze it in like a screwdriver, chances are your spike will roll over the round slippery root or it will part the roots and just graze the outer layer and not the root itself....you will get the feel as you do it many times
The edge of the pot is the best place especially if it is a clear pot and you can see the roots within
