Okay, that makes sense, I guess.....It appears that the mericloning process produced flowers that aren't peloric. Of course, the original plant was a peloric as are the accurate mericlones. The odds of the the non-pelorics of this specific plant getting awarded are probably a bit small. It would be interesting to see the non-peloric examples.....

Here is the peloric and non peloric forms -

It has a strange beauty, Dorothy (which only makes it more desirable, in my opinion!!). I've seen here and there some peloric forms of Phal, hybrids in fact, but in a species I guess it is the first time. But then, maybe I was not paying enough attention...:D

Despite preferring the non peloric, I like that the peloric is partial and that the petals haven't taken on all the characteristics of the labellum :)

Dorothy, I have equestris var formosum 'Montclair'. Does this one have peloric flowers??

I have no idea whether it comes peloric but that is one I would love to acquire! :o Where did you purchase it? Please post a photo of it if you can :) Please :D
Maybe you can find it here - Phalaenopsis equestris

Dorothy,
from the ad, it appears that this plant produces tons of keikis some of which are peloric and others which aren't. I've never heard of that before, perhaps the plant isn't a stable mutation?

Dorothy 10-02-2007 02:21 PM

I will see once it starts sending off keikis .. for now, I am happy it's blooming for me :)
I only have it a few months.
