Default Phal spike in water

One of the NoId phals that I got to rebloom, started to look dehydrated. Last Saturday I decided to cut off the spike and see what was wrong with the plant. She hardly had any roots. I'm misting the leaves twice or even three times a day. Today I watered her with rooting hormones. I hope she will grow new roots soon. I put the spike in water. It's exactly a week ago today and the blooms look even better than they did when on the flower. They are opener and flatter. Today I added three drops of fertlizer to the water.

Sugar water should work as well for the cut spike.
Also, be very careful misting the leaves. If you don't have good air movement, and worse if it doesn't dry off by evening, you can get some bad rot started by accident. I generally only most in the AM in my grow space. Hopefully that rooting hormone works and it turns the corner.

I've got the phal outside, out of direct sun, but with lot of air movement. The latest I mist if I mist in the evening is about seven when I get home from work. I take care not getting water into the crown or the leave axes but if water gets there, I dry it off with a peper towell.
I'll try with sugar water for the spike.
I'm confident the rooting hormone will work. I used it for the first time on a Vanda that had been very long dormant, without any sign of growth. With only one application, in less than two weeks, two new roots have started to grow.
This is the phal in question and the Vanda with it's new roots (one is even double, so should I say three new roots?).

Actually when I have flowers in water, i add Mello Yello, it sounds weird but I've had flowers last a week longer than they should... (for two weeks at least, depending on the flower) but its something with the lemon juice/ citric acid & the carbonation that prevents bacteria and the sugar feeds the flowers... and i feel like it does something else that I'm forgeting.... but I also change the water once a week give or take-just when the water looks kinda gross, which that would also help just by itself
