Too much water!! Female
Default Too much water!!

I just came out of hospital & found my dear husband had been watering. My beautiful Phal was stood in approx 6 inches of water!!.Horrified I emptied it & left it to drain.
It is hot out here in Spain at the moment & fingers crossed hoping my beauty will survive as it dries out.
Can you advise anything else I can do please.

Glad you're out of the hospital. Sorry to hear it's been overwatered. How long has it been wet?

Glad you're back home. I would take the plant out of the pot and let it dry out some. As for hubby...don't be too hard on him. Sounds like he was trying to help

I bet it's good to be back home.
Like others said, drain the water from the plant. You may even add some air circulation with a small fan in the room to help it dry a little. I wouldn't put a big fan, just enought to create a small 'breeze.'
Post some pics of your orchid, we love to see blooms
Good luck!

Get some air to the roots. Remember it rains days on end in nature and the orchids survive so don't give up hope.

Hope whatever you were in the hospital for wasn't to serious!
How long has it been standing in water? I have been known to forget about a soaking orchid for 2 days (luckily it happens very very rarely) and it comes out of the ordeal just fine.

Was in hospital for suspected heart attack but I am OK.
Nearly had a proper one though when I saw all that water.Thank you for all your advice,I am half way there have drained it off.Hubby had only watered it 2 days before I came home & as you say he was trying to help.
My Phal is in the porch now where I have a ceiling fan on the low setting.
Sorry,no camera at the moment to take piccys but hope to ask a friend to oblige.

A porch sounds perfect, plenty of air flow to help it dry out! But 2 days in the water shouldn't kill it normally. Glad you're OK! Hubby may have nearly drowned the orchid, but it's the intention that counts.

maybe you could take it out of the pot so its bare rooted and then leave it for 2 or 3 days to air out and dry.
