Oooo gorgeous!!! I saw that Lucke Orchideen has it, I was looking at their website last night trying to decide if I should get anything there. Yours looks even better than their photo suggests!

That's true! And it's from Lucke. First i was angry at myself for getting another hybrid but thought 'what the heck, anyway the webshop photo is not that bad..' And when i saw the actual bloom open it was: wooooah... So now i definatelly suggest getting it!

It's really a great example of this primary Phal. Since it's unlikely that thalebanii is a true species (but rather a form of cornu-cervi), this likely should key out to Phal Valentinii, and is one of the better examples I've seen of this primary. Really great color and decent form. Please tell me it kept some of the violacea scent?? I'm glad you made this "mistake"

I think I'm going to make the same 'mistake'! They have a few other great Phals that I want too.

Hey than we should call it Phal. Valentinii 'Lucky Mistake' Perfect name This way it also almost indicates that it's from Lucke
I haven't noticed any scent yet but maybe it's only because i'm away the whole day and so i can't be sniffing it around the clock

Interesting picture. The cross between violacea and
cornu-cervi (thalebanii is a synonym for cornu-cervi) is the natural hybrid x valentinii or if man made Phal Valentinii.
If you search pictures for that hybrid they all show more cornu-cervi influence than yours that shows basically no cornu-cervi traits.
Your's looks much like the violacea that you intended to get in the first place. Which makes it much more attractive (IMHO) than valentinii.
