Phalaenopsis propagation without chemicals
Question Phalaenopsis propagation without chemicals

Hi everyone! I want to propagate my phals but I don't have any keiki paste and putting the flower stalk on soil always end up in infection and failure. Putting the stalks in a container with agar also fails with infection every time! I heard after flower cut the stalk to a node and place the whole plant in a dark space makes the plant grow keikis, can someone give me any ideas? Also can someone please comfirm the dark space theory? Because my phals are almost starting to develop flower stalks and I want to be prepared!
Thanks-kiwimacniwi

Cutting the flower spike to a node and keeping the Phal in the dark sounds like it will not get you anything but trouble, imo.

If you can get a hold of keiki paste, that would be best if you'd like to get the Phal to reproduce asexually.

However, I think it is better to get the plant to produce seeds and send the seeds to a micropropagation lab near you. This way you will get as many plants as you want.
