Camille, I know this an odd question but is the spike on the same side as the last spike you had or is it on the other side?
I have a phal that always sends up a spike of peloric flowers on one side of the plant and then the other side the blooms are normal. I have no idea why this happens and it looks kinda weird when I get 2 spikes at once! But it is a fun plant to have!
Maybe this is what's going on with yours?

Normally it's the other side, if it's following the typical alternation. But since it's done a lot of growing during its 3 year sulk,(so the spike appeared well above where the previous one was, since many lower leaves have been shed) it could be on the same side. But I'm starting to think that this is 'normal' peloria, as opposed to insecticide induced. The 4th bud is also like that, and the blooms on the right have the left petal affected, while the blooms on the left have the right petal affected.
