So disappointed!

One of my dendrobiums opened its first bud. Well, the shape is very close to the bloom last fall, but the color is waaaay off. It had white sepals and purple petals but this time, everything is purple and an ugly dark shade of purple too! maybe too much light caused the color change, I don't know but I'm very disappointed. I am waiting for the next bud to open. I moved the plant in the shade to see if that will make any difference at this point.

Both temperature and light can influence the color. I don't think you can expect much change in the other buds, you'll have to wait for a new spike probably...

It's so warm that the next bud is already cracking open. I couldn't resist having a peek inside, and bad news, this bloom is also semi peloric on one side!! This time it's the right petal. This is not fair, I've waited so long for these blooms!

Bad luck Camille. I am so sorry to hear that. Hopefully the next one will be perfect.

I really really hope so too... If it really is linked to the insecticide, hopefully the buds near the tip and on the branch will be normal, since the buds were nearly nonexistent then.

Uh crikey Camille, I'm sorry you're so disappointed.3 years really is a long time to wait for blooms that you don't love

We do see this kinda thing with paphs and phrags. Many times the next blooms turn out just fine and look the way they should.

Will you contacted the seller?
