I got this one from Orchids by Peter White and it was shipped with six (!) spikes in bloom. As you can see, it lost almost all of its flowers after being unpacked and repotted. Not surprising since it spent a week in a box, so I'm glad that all of the spikes have decided to continue growing and are producing more buds. The scary part though is that I've discovered what looks like two or three more spikes protruding from the stem! I'm worried that this guy's going to bloom itself to death.

As a bonus I noticed that the flowers have a lovely fragrance that becomes more pronounced during the brightest hours of the day.

Very pretty color. It looks like a strong growing and blooming plant.

If it wants to bloom let it! Just because they are small doesn't mean that it doesn't have the strength to bloom. If the roots are are good let it do its thing.

Thanks guys! It was the colour that made me go for it in the first place Tucker, so I'm glad I'm not the only one. My friend dissed it quite badly, saying it's boring and pointless looking like almost all of my Phals...

It has a very nice root system so I'll definitely let it bloom, I was just shocked to see it's going for even more spikes when it has six already. The leaves look great too, so I think it's a very vigorous plant.

Actually, both Phals I got from Peter White are big and healthy looking so I'm very pleased with them. When my Phal. Little Gem variegated leaf form blooms, I'll upload some pics of it too.

Uh, your friend obviously doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Your plant is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! (I can write it three more times ) I love the color, form, and it's obviously a very healthy orchid! Enjoy it, and post more photos when those new spikes bloom

I see this phal often since last fall. very interesting color, but wow~ that thing is going nuts with flower spikes

None of my phals put up more than one spike at a time so far.

Thanks! It feels great that I'm not the only one liking this guy. Me and my friend have very different tastes when it comes to Phals. It's not often that we agree on which ones are attractive or not.

But this guy she really doesn't like!

I know! It's crazy! I didn't even know they could get spikes in the same place as they already have spikes, but the new ones are emerging directly beneath three of the "old" ones. I'll see if I can take a picture of it when they've grown a bit more. I just love this guy.

Absolutely love the color of the blooms, reminds me of a clear sky at sunset and how the orange color melts into pink! I hate to say it but your friend might be due for an eye exam!
