You can get quite nice photos next to a bright window, that's how I do most of mine. I never ever use artificial light, natural is much better for the colors.

Bud please don't feel I am being critical of your work. I love the fact that you took the time to take so many pics. With correct lighting you can only enhance the appearance of this orchid. So that those who aren't familiar will be able to recognize it in the future when they see it, that's all.

Camille, my bright windows are all filled with orchids either hanging or on tierred wood...so I really need to bring this outdoors even in winter to photograph it...

@Susan...I am not taking your suggestion in a negative tone...in fact I am thrilled that a professional photographer is giving me sound advice.

well...its not a sight...my windows are the only source of light for my plants and it darkened my rooms in the day. I can relate to stage light instruments but I am totally ignorant about professional light instruments for photography and how to balance them to correctly capture the flowers and its colors...
I discovered I am good at using daylight outdoors to showcase my plants...with the sky as background or a big tree or a wall...than to do a set-up with black cloth and lights

Pics please! Sometimes you have to post five times to add pics. I would suggest starting a new thread and also commenting on a few threads or introducing yourself in the new members thread.
