I hate resurrecting old threads, but I didn't feel the need to create a new one and then have to post old status updates. So, I'm continuing my old thread where I left off.
Both orchids are still very much alive!
My little mini Phal has plump leaves once more (even some of the withered ones filled out again) and its root system is regrowing. It tried blooming a few weeks ago, and since it looked healthy, I let it go. However, after the first few buds blasted, I cut off the stem. Better to let it conserve its energy for next season than to try and lose all the buds.
My larger phal isn't doing so well. It's down to three leaves, but it hasn't died yet. It has put out a few new roots, but they're very short and slow growing. It shed all of its old leaves, save one, and has put out two more. the new leaves are plump and healthy looking, but are very small. He's still hanging in there, but is on a much longer road to recovery than his companion.
I also got my hands on another gorgeous flower from Copps. It's in no need of saving, thank goodness. It was too pretty to pass up, and looked healthy, so I brought it home with me a few weeks ago. It has since stopped blooming and is looking healthy. I believe it to be a "Stairs to Heaven" hybrid, but with no proper identification I will never know.
Orchids are pictured in the same order they are mentioned. Tiny phal (second with starting spike that was later removed), sick freckled phal, and new phal.
