My DW took a pic of this with the real camera, not my crappy cell phone cam. Even though there is some shadow thing going on with the petal on the left, it's a much better photo.

This one popped again a few weeks ago. These blooms are so waxy that they last forever.

these are just about impossible to get hold of. You should think about propagating yours.
I got a rare cultivar recently and its in for stem propagation.

Orchidsarefun - that's far beyond my art. What do you mean "in" for stem propagation. Did you send your rare cultivar off for cloning? Wow! How does that work? I'd love to know the details.

Did a quick google search and this one is not so rare after all. Norman is selling it 'in bud' for $38. Worth it for the scent alone. This little guy is a giver if you give it bottom heat. If anyone's looking for a sweet smelling phal - I say, go for it.

That's amazing! What a great tutorial (and given the complexity, what a great advertisment for lab services).
Forgive me, but I have to ask... when you drop off the stem at the lab, (1) what is the turn around time on the lab's work product, (2) what is the work product (a flask, compot, seedlings), and (3) what's the general ballpark on cost?
This is such an interesting concept, thanks for sharing!
