HD Phalaenopsis-NOID with seed Pod, UPDATE POD HAS BURST!!!
I'de like your advice.
This Phal was put under my care at work. This was the plant that actually what got me hooked.
A Proffessor got it pregnant . You know what I mean, he did it around November. Late November.
When will this pod be ready? Do you think its grown? Is it supposed to swell more?
here are the pics:
Here is a pic I took many months ago.
Here it is now:
Thats the second spike, stunted for the last 5 months or so.
These are the two new leaves it has grown in the last 4-5 months
These are its newest root growths. I think it has happened in the last 3-4 months.
Here is the seed pod, and below, another look!
All the pics and a few more of this plant can be seen in my gallery.
Thanks

I have never seen a seed pod delivered here at our garden center, must have been overlooked when the vendors put an order together or ahhhh could have been a disgruntle employee that wanted to get back at the boss..lol. Did you cut the pods back? If you do propagate it; it will take approximately 3-4 months. Here is a good source on propagating for first timers, either for green or dry pods. Definitely a great buy I would say.

Oh no, it was in full flower when it was brought in from the Home Depot. The Botany Professor must have pollinated the orchid as a teaching tool for his class. The orchids were for show and tell for Higher Plants class. Then I got stuck(blessed) with taking care of them ever after!
Update, one month later, the roots are longer, the leaves are bigger, and the pod is as green as ever!

Hi Tindo, here are a couple of good sites that explain the process. The first uses the dry pod method, which is typically considered less desireable and less reliable. The second lists seed pod gestation periods for a variety of genera.

My guess is that after all this time, the seed pod isn't viable. It doesn't look like it's nearly as swollen as it ought to be.

Hi all, just posting an update quickly as I don't have time right now.
Piper thanks for the links! Marco, thanks also, but I really wanted to try this myself since I probably have access to all the materials I will need.
Now, update, OMG, the seed pod has turned yellow!!!!! It must have happened over the weekend. Now does that mean its ready, or just dieing? Anyhow, I'll read up on the links. I have so much to read recently, I want to read up on Marty's photojournal of how he made his vivarium rack, I got a scientific article on frogs to read, I got a how to stuff a bird paper to read too . I guess I found how to fill my time huh!?

Ok so I got a picture of the seed pod which has now turned YELLOW!!!
So my question is, is it croaking, or is it viable? Is the only way to know by sowing the seeds?
Thanks!
Ahhhhh, an end to the waiting. Finally!
I wonder If my seed pod beat Marty's baby?
