Not my intention to step on someone else's post, but I thought you might like some more information about this plant.

My wife is the registrant. It is named for our deceased, but much loved Cocker Spaniel, AKC Champion and multiple specialty Best In Show winner, Ch. Coleman's Gentleman Jack. His call name was JD for Jack Daniels. He produced 35 AKC champions and his litter sister still lives with us.

We have 12 of these seedlings. The largest had leaves 16 inches long by 8 inches wide two years out of flask.
All 12 have bloomed with many slightly cupped as in the picture but a couple appear to be very close to flat.

I'm not trying to sell these. I do not want to. I just thought you might be interested to know about the cross.

Wonderful background info. I am going to have to look for a seedling of this that you do not own. It is beautiful. And what a tribute to a special friend.

I should have said above that the Swiss plant must be from a separate cross because we have control of all the seedlings from the US cross.

Probably not. gigantea is not often used because it has to be very mature to bloom and it's hard to grow. These seedlings either because of hybrid vigor or due to the influence of tetraspis bloomed the first year out of flask and are growing really fast.

It is an interesting cross because gigantea dominates the flower form and color and size although it remains to be seen how big the plants actually get. They are definitely big already. As I already said they bloom sooner and easier than gigantea.
