UGH! It's opening soooooooooooooo sloooooooooooow! But I think is does have the picotee!

Silken, I'll get a pic this afternoon, hopefully it'll get a move on!

Oooooooh, I think I'm in love! The picotee isn't nearly as distinct as the photo of the mature plant but I think as the flower and/or plant ages it's going to be great! So excited!

Today's bud pictures below. I've adjusted camera settings to better capture the true color of the flower. Earlier photos were way too far to the blue side of purple. This is more a red purple.

It's very nice. It does have something but I'm not sure it will have the same markings as the one in the link. Unless the photo just doesn't show detail too well. I don't know about this one but I have a white one with a bit of pink splash on the edges and the marks are all there when it first opens. Keep us posted!

Well, I asked Hawaiian Sunshine to look at my pictures and tell me if the mature plant's flowers would have that dramatic picotee. Hawaiian looked and alas, no go. It's still pretty though!

Now I have to decide whether to send it back and try again with another, or keep it and just purchase another attempt.

Man, what a letdown.

But it's still a pretty bloom.

For sure its a lovely bloom! If Carter and Holmes are near to you I would go and have a look. Maybe some are in bloom now and you can see if you prefer those ones to yours. You could always get another as a companion for yours

I was told there is about a 10% chance of the splash not being there. I really do hope mine is splashed as that's the feature I was looking for when I bought it. But I have a long wait yet!

It's quite a trip to get back to the nursery. I talked to Mac Holmes yesterday and he's honoring his offer to exchange, with a twist. I just ordered a Paph. Pinnochio and he's going to put a new Cat in with it. He told me to not worry about sending this one back. Heck, twist my arm!

So yeah it was a disappointment but I couldn't be happier with C&H.

Oh, and guess what--the Cat I have is showing distinct ruffles along the petals. If it deepens I'll take a picture. Right now the ruffle is there but not significant. Wouldn't it be something if instead of the picotee I get ruffled petals?
