How sickening!! I can't believe people would do that. And that's not the first time I've heard such stories on OB...
My orchids are staying indoors this summer!

No, Ryan. I read about this cross in the book 'Moth Orchids'. At the time, the cross had won more awards than any other phalaenopsis. So, for a year or more, I kept my eye out for one. At the Redlands Orchid Festival I was browsing at a small booth that a part-time grower had at the show. He had a few of these from a flask he had bought years before. I thought I recognized the flower from the book and I was amazed when I looked at the tag that it actually was a Phal. Orchid World 'Bonnie Vasquez'. It was just a lucky find.

Of course, you mentioned in a reply I must have over looked.
What a lucky find! It's really stunning. I was wondering if you might let me pillage your collection? Lol you have such beautiful phals, especially. I'm definitely phal-leaning when it comes to orchids.

Thank you for the compliment. Phals are only a small part of my collection because I always struggled to grow them well. But I did a lot of research and experimented quite a bit and now I'm growing phals with great success. Once I knew how to grow them I bought a few high quality (and expensive) plants. My only complaint is that I can leave my cattleyas for weeks without care and they'll be fine, but phals can't survive that kind of neglect.

you're right about the scent,
not sure if I like it either. But the flowers are gi-normous, almost 3 inches! I had 3 on one stalk.
I have an Orchid World "Joe" which I found while browsing "in the back" at Hausermann's. It was tucked away near the zygo's and my eyes nearly popped out....cos I know how valuable they are, and I am not going to tell you much I paid. It was obviously a mistake !
( that said I read somewhere that 000's of "Joe" were cloned, but its the first time I have seen it anywhere )
