Phalaenopsis Dutch Lady
Presenting : Phal. Dutch Lady
Superb white variety with multi branching spikes carrying lots of 3 inch flowers with a yellow and orange lip
Genus: Phalaenopsis
Epithet: Dutch Lady
Synonym Flag: This is not a synonym
Registrant Name: Floricultura
Originator Name: Floricultura
Date of registration: 08/11/1994
Seed parent : Phalaenopsis stuartiana
Pollen parent: Phalaenopsis Lowland Lady
It is a large old plant maybe 6 yrs. old according to the seller I bought this from 2 years ago. It has been an outdoor plant so I first put it in the shadiest part of the fire escape that summer when I first got it and I have just discovered that outdoor plants do not like being taken indoors…they become weird in color and leaves seem to discolor and wrinkle in shape…winter had been weird this season and sometimes it is 50’s to 60’s in the daytime outside and it is a constant 80 inside my heated apartment…so I let it out in the day and bring it indoors at night…it spiked and flowered for me in a magnificent show of blooms…Since this will also rebloom again on the same spike… I am counting on more flowers to come this spring/summer

I just love this plant - if you ever have seeds... lol... like I've ever even tried flasking. I'll have to see if I can find one out here...

Thank You, Linda
Its just too bad you live in Canada, where it is very strict with import/export of plants.
This might produce a keiki after the blooms...but it will take some time.
Try your local vendor this spring when it is safe to mail orchids...this is not a rare plant neither is it hard to find...I am sure if you order for this plant now your local vendor might have it in stock ...

"Since this will also rebloom again on the same spike… I am counting on more flowers to come this spring/summer"
Bud - what do you mean by this? Do you mean that after it is finished blooming and you cut back the spike that it may send out a new spike or something else? If something else please enlighten me.

after the flowers of this Phal are gone, I will not cut the spike because it might produce again some buds... on that same spike it might produce blooms...or I am confusing you with my play of words?
This is a hybrid Phal and they rebloom on old spikes as long as its still green and have not withered or browned...If the old spike produce buds it will be in spring or summer that it might open its blooms...it takes two to three months for same spike buds to open its blooms...or maybe the spike will just wither and brown and theres no buds for me this spring/summer...its a speculation there is no surety but some Phals rebloom on old spikes...clear?

the same spike the flowers are bloomimg on right now in the picture will produce new buds ...after the present flowers are withered and gone...
ok how will you rephrase this? help me

I was just curious, I guess because of the way you worded it. I think I may still be, but having looked at the lineage of this cross there is not a single species there that reblooms on the same spike, say the way that violecea does. I was just wondering how you got it to bloom again from the same spike?
