Phalaenopsis bellina growth? Male
Default Phalaenopsis bellina growth?

Does anyone with a Phalaenopsis Bellina experience foliage growth year round or foliage growth once a year? Mine for most part remain dormant for most of the year, grows new leaves during the spring, and flowers during the summer.

That sounds generally right according to my experience. Most new growth in the spring and early summer – slower or temporarily interrupted growth from late summer through winter. They might rest, but they don’t really go dormant. A noticeable growth spurt can occur anytime if there is an environmental change that the orchid appreciates, especially if it has not been entirely happy prior to that. Increased light or warmth, for example, or maybe a timely repotting can result in more new growth during the winter.

Mine grows all the time except during flowering, but now it's already growing with its 8th flower!

Sometimes they tend to slow down growth when they're too cool. What temps are you growing it under?

They are grown hot (87F-90F days, 70F-75F nights) and humid (80%) in the summer, and intermediate (77F days 61F nights sometimes with a dip into the upper 50s F when it is very cold) and moderately humid (65%) in the winter. I would expect a lot of growth during the summer, but it only puts out one flush only in spring. And I expect it to stop growing completely during the winter, but not during the summer.
