Gorgeous flower, love the colour!

Doritis and thus Doritenopsis are now all Phals as has been said. Most Dtps looked just like phals anyway and many NoID phals in the mass market are probably Dtps because of the desirable features it imparts to the offspring. Most are so heavily mixed that you can't really see the Doritis features.

It does cause confusion though when hybrids have been registered with the same name in what used to be two different genera and are now one

How do they deal with the confusion?

Now that is a very good question, I suspect the answer must lie somewhere in the depths of the RHS website. Changing the name of one hardly seems feasible, and the other option I can think of is adding the cross in brackets after the name, but that doesn't seem like a very satisfactory solution either.

You would think that they would have a plan before they made such a decision.

I doubt that there are many cases of one name for 2 plants, despite all the lumping done across different genera. Maybe it's something best dealt with on a case by case basis.

What I've seen in the past is the registrants name in brackets after the hybrid name. I've seen hybrids listed that way on the RHS website with two versions of the same name listed apart from that in brackets.

However when I had a hybrid that was recorded like that it was difficult to work out which mine was as the grower had not supplied that detail. I'm pretty sure I worked mine out because it didn't look anything like the parents of one and looked enough like the parents of the other for me to decide that's what it was.

Thanks, Camille and Rosie, for the info. It is always an education.
