Thank You, Jonada ! The V3 is a special hybrid form that has very long spikes and they can cascade several dozens of flowers in just one spike...mine is a simple hybrid from Japan I think...but it gives very large blooms and is fragrant

Phalaenopsis Sogo Yukidian is among the major "superstars" of breeding white Phalaenopsis orchids….. capable of huge white flowers of exceptionally full form and good substance. I had large flat flowers last blooming season but only five flowers on one spike since it was the first time this ever bloomed for me from a near blooming sized keiki= this time I am given six to eight flowers that are bigger and flatter and two spikes with longer large jade green leaves and pencil thick roots.
By observing the genotype characteristics of Sogo Yukidian= flower color, pattern, flower size, flower number; numbers of spike, multi or no branches, and spike height….also include my environmental factors like: day temperature, night temperature, relative humidity, length of daylight and intensity that I must monitor religiously…..I have discovered that the number of spikes is affected by the temperature difference between the growing and cooling phase. I tried lowering the temperatures from 80F day and 60F night for my regular Phalaenopsis orchids to 70F day temperature and 55F night temperature for the Sogo Yukidian that this time gave me two spikes.
DT represents the difference between day and night temperatures at the flowering stage. By increasing DT, the spike is longer; and by decreasing DT, the length of spike is shortened.
Therefore: providing this plant the proper culture, getting it in top shape in good happy healthy condition….I am looking forward to producing three spikes cascading with 24 large flat flowers on each spike in the near future.
