Default Blue phal?

I was wondering if there was such thing as a blue/bluish phalaenopsis. I don't think they occur naturally (since I've never seen one before), but is there a hybrid version that is blue/bluish?

I see a lot of white, yellow, pink, and light purplish phals, but I don't seem anything or much of other colors.

Is it just that those colors are easier to come by, or does there just not exist phals in the other colors?

I was just thinking about it and thought maybe you all would know. That, and I thought a bluish phal would be lovely!

I've been wondering about this too.

The closest I've seen to a blue is really a purple and sometimes that purple is just an accent color. LOL

I've seen the blue vandas, which are gorgeous but no phals.

I can NOT believe someone hasn't created a beautiful blue hybrid. . .if there is one out there, I would love to add it to my collection.

I have been told by another member on OB that your best bet for a blue is Orchidview's Phal. violacea ('Gulfstream Blue' JC/AOS x self)
To the member whose name I have misplaced in my brain .. forgive me - your knowledge on blues has been a great value to me and all here .. Thanks again

I OBJECT!!!!!!!!!

The posts regarding the Blues make me wish we could ship between the states and Canada without all these conditions from breeders to have us place orders of $500 plus the certificate fee. I have had to ban myself from looking at orchidview because those blue violecias are so BLUE! I want them all!

now i feel really blue (its also raining buckets outside-upside? i am not concerned about the humidity level here) --- m

Lady .. It sounds like you need to take a road trip with a giant U-Haul to the states and just hit all the orchid nurseries until you get to Orchidview ..
and make sure you have the conservatory built before you return ..
