now i feel really blue (its also raining buckets outside-upside? i am not concerned about the humidity level here) --- m
Try Bedford Orchids in Montreal (or near there). He might have some blue phals.

The blue's from Orchidview are very nice little plants. When I saw how small they were I was a bit apprehensive. But they've grown very rapidly and should flower soon!

Totally correct Dorothy, the other thing I thought of is maybe someone could stand on the American side of the border and I on the Canadian side and someone could hand the plants across!

(I think I need to lie down now) (LOL)

I am sooooo laughing. . .

Why couldn't we just buy one and ship it to Canada? And just say the contents are. . ur, certainly not orchids. . .maybe wool socks or something?

I hate being thwarted.

There is one problem in acquiring a “blue” P. violacea. What you find at affordable (or maybe affordable) prices are seedlings - and only a minority of seedlings from crosses between coerulea parents produce coerulea flowers. So when you buy them, you don’t know what color their flowers will be. You have to wait until they mature and bloom.

A positive side is that the offspring of crosses involving the Norton violaceas have been of such high quality, you can expect a very good flower regardless of color.
