Very nice bloom So cute. I envy your ability to grow Phals mounted, they just don't do well like that for me.

I live mostly in the Netherlands now, but even with a naturally occuring minimum of 60% humidity most of the year, my phals just don't do well mounted. I have tried, and even with daily watering they don't grow roots, existing roots die, and the plants look dehydrated. They do 500% better potted, and it's also easier since I only need to water once a week or so in that case. I had Phal parishii and deliciosa mounted, but they were looking so bad that I potted them. I think the parishii is a goner though

How do you mount your phals ? Direct to the slab ? Fern bark ?
What we normally do is to sandwich the roots with moss before securing the phals and do a daily watering.
I think watering is not the right description, it's more like a shower !
Anyway most of us use fern bark slab rather then bark cos bark is just to dry and water holding capacity is almost close to zero compared to fern bark slab.
Anyway do what is best and works, if potting works for you then there is no need to change.
As for me, my potted phals do ok but they just don't flower.

Tree fern is hard to find here, and the stuff I have seen doesn't have any mention of being sustainably farmed or not. I had the Phals on bark with some sphag under the roots. The dried in less than a day if I sprayed, 2 days if I soaked.

Beautiful bloom. Your phals are always gorgeously healthy.
I wonder where one in Canada can find this little brick that you mount your phals on.

Thank you Mervin. It is much easier to find it now when I know its name.
