Nope, not hats! But the full term I believe if French cloche...cloche IS French for "bell," if I'm not mistaken. It comes from those glass domes that people would put over certain plants to raise the humidity. Mine aren't bells but rather flint glass I fashioned into boxes. It allows me to water my plants in sh without worrying about water getting everywhere. Each cloche has a heating may under it that keeps everything warm and evaporating while the top is mostly open to provide air circulation. My warm growing orchids thrive in these boxes.
