What kind of texture do the petals have? Is it well-scented? I'm considering getting this one but it has to have a nice heavy substance and good fragrance to make the cut.

Hey Pilot, good questions. Scent wise, I really am not sure (first blooming for me as I bought it out of bloom). I smell something faint when I get home from work (after 6ish), and by then, if anything is there it is gone. I need to wait for a weekend so I can get a good sense during the day.
The substance of the flower is really good. Really heavy, as the petals/sepals are fairly thick for what I've seen, and the texture of them comes out like an art shade fine sand paper. I'm also a big fan of the fat flat lip

Cody, hoping to take a picture tonight of the "mating pair"

Ok, I finally decided to stop slacking on this one. I was going to use this as a pod plant, but I think I'm going to reverse it as this is a young(er) plant in it's first bloom. I got this one from Norman's also with the Tying Shin. This is violacea var indigo x var sumatrana. I'm really excited about this first bloom. Wanted a bit more blue in this from the indigo, but the color is a really cool red/purple mix. It kind of shows in the pic, but not all of it. It's also got a nifty faded petal going on. Anyway, what do you think about this cross?

I'm actually hesistant on using pollen from Tying Shin now. After doing some reading, it's unclear whether Tying Shin Cupid is a triploid, given it's parent is Sogo Lawrence (likely a 4n). Now Tying shin may have used a different non 4n, or even used a 4n Kuntrarti Rarashati, but the chances are small, so I'm thinking of holding off (other than a selfing), on using the violacea on this. I'm also unsure of the ploidy of this violacea, but I assume it to be 2n (waiting on Norman's response, if they know ploidy of the parents).

I didn't want to start a new topic but I was inspired by this boom and so I ordered from Normans. Testing this out to see if tapatalk works.
