Phal Wiganiae (schilleriana x stuartiana)
One of my favorite Phals is once again in bloom. I love this plant year round because of the wonderful mottled leaves.
Unfortunately (because I badly neglected my orchids this spring) none of my blooming orchids are putting on spectacular shows this year. 2 flowers seems to be average for some of the Phals this fall, including this one. But the plant made up for it in size, the flowers are HUGE this year!

WOW! That is a beauty! I own one of its parents and I love it when they display a spectacular show of blooms...this one is also fragrant?

Unfortunately not.
Once this one matures it's capable of making large showy spikes like schilleriana, or so I read.

This was was still really young when I got it 2 years ago. Last year it had a dozen blooms or so, and I think that it would have had even more this year if it hadn't been set back by my neglect. Hopefully next year it will look amazing.

Gorgeous! I've never bloomed a schilleriana, but my stuartiana just finished blooming. I'd love to get this cross, that pink flush is so neat. How big does this plant get?

Mine is not that big. The leaves are each about 15-20cm long (pretty much the standard Phal size), but my plant doesn't seem to want to keep more than 3-4 leaves at a time. I have a dutch friend who also has one and hers is much larger and already puts out branching spikes.
One thing which is strange is that I was going through the emails she sent me when I got it (she kept it for me a while) and back then it was fragrant! I didn't notice anything the 2 bloomings after that....
