What is the best way to wall mount a phal?

I have a phal that I bought at HD. I want to wall mount it, but have never done that before. What is the best way to go about it and what supplies do I need? I am just breaking into the hobby. Thanks for any suggestions!

You can buy the slabs online. I've never mounted anything before, but I believe you would have to find a natural slab of wood with no chemicals. Some fishing line and some moss. And tie the roots down, but not too tight to cause any damage. I'm sure there would be someone of greater help than me though! :biggrin

I mounted my first Phal from HD! You need a piece of cork bark ( I got mine from repotme.com). Work your Phal out of it's pot easily. Spread some moss on the cork. Trim any rotted roots (put cinnamon on the trimmed ends of the roots). Use fishing line to tie down the roots/plant and the moss. You can plant your Phal upside down, point outwards, or straight up. If you plant your Phal straight up, just make sure not to get water in your crown. That can cause crown rot. Good luck! Is it okay to use any natural wood? We had to cut down an oak tree this year. Could I use a chunk of that or is it better to use cork?

You can use natural wood and oak is a hard wood but it has to dry out.

cork is the best so far for my mounted plants...you can buy it from Ray (look up his site) hes got the best cork mounts, and a good deal. You can also read about the proper way to mount phals on one of the member's post on stop phal abuse.

Mopani wood (an african hardwood) used for aquariums and such is also a good mounting material because it doesn't break down very easily. You can usually buy it at any pet shop, which can help save on the shipping costs of buying stuff online.
