I got two Mini Mark 'Holm's from Al's Orchids about 2 months ago and they had arrived with one in bloom. Unfortunately, due to USPS priority mail keeping the package on the truck an extra day (1st delivery attempt was one of their infamous fake-outs where they stick the 'missed you' slip in your door without actually bothering to ring the bell) the blooms didn't last long. Plus Al had told me in advance that what he had left were pretty much bloomed out for the season. But one last bud developed and just today fully opened, sort of a teaser for what I can expect next winter when it will rebloom along with its travel mate, I suppose. I'm jealous of all those ripe buds on yours. Mini Mark rose to the top of my must have list when I saw a ribbon winner at the Philadelphia Flower Show this year.
BTW, the reason I have 2 MMs is that Al suprised me with 2 for the price of 1.

Great work, I love Mini Mark. My first one has struggled and not rebloomed. My second is just starting to drop the flowers from the spikes it had when bought in March.

Good luck Jayfar, having two doubles the chance of flowers and doubles the fun
Sorry to hear yours are just dropping Rosie, the new one looked gorgeous - let's hope it'll flower again soon

learned today
Quote:
drop phals down to 55 degrees at night only for 2 weeks. Put them back to 70 and you will have spikes. Thats how growers get spikes all year long

works for paphs dropping temps at night why not phals too

Hi everyone Since I had the camera out, I thought I'd give you an update on Mini Mark (especially as he looks so pretty now). Not all the buds are out, but they're certainly coming along

Jenny it looks terrific! Is yours fragrant? It's such a happy little plant. How can one not smile when you look at those blooms?
Mine bloomed earlier in the spring but prematurely dropped it's blooms. I think it got too cold. We've had lower than normal temps this year. It hung on to the last 3 flowers. It must have decided that it didn't bloom for long enough becuase it started another spike several weeks ago that is just now forming buds. I get to enjoy it all over again.
