Default Harlequin Doritaenopsis

This is a first-bloom Doritaenopsis hybrid.
Dtps. Ching Hua Magic x Dtps. Hsinying Heart
It is bred from the so-called Harlequin line, originally created from a mutation in the mericloning process.
One of the hallmarks of Harlequins is that each flower on the inflorescence tends to be unique from the rest, with subtle differences in patterning as well as form. In this seedling the first flower to open was the best.
I'm not sure if I even like it all that much. It's like having a 2-headed dog: a novelty, but ultimately a sideshow freak.

Regards,
Rick

I don't care for most harlequins but this one is very nice
I love it's white picotee
Is the color as raspberry as it is in the photo?

Thanks for sharing

Me too, I'm not a big fan of these either. But this one is really nice. Lovely rich color and shape

I have to say I don't really like Harlequins, but WOW. It looks as if the petals were painted with watercolor.
