Default NOOOOooooooooo! Leapord Prince

I just broke the entire spike off my phal "Leapord Prince" - the relatively brand new one that had some decent blooms going on. I got in some new humidity trays I was using to expand my growing area and I made one bone-headed mistake and snapped the spike. It was a double, too.

Is he going to be ok? Should I do anything?
It was a clean break.

I took this photo yesterday:

Gorgeous.
Put the stem in water. From your description it does not look like the plant was hurt????

Do you have anyone to propose to??

Aw man! That's Doo Dah! You have my sympathies. I think we've all done that at least once. Lovely flowers.

Yep, and some of us have done before we even get to enjoy the flowers! They're very pretty, so I hope you can still enjoy them for a while and hope it's not too long before the next spike

A tip I was once given was to put clear lemonade (like sprite or similar) into the vase. It helps keep the flowers for longer apparently.

It's certainly done no harm when I've tried it I can't really be sure if the flowers lasted longer than they otherwise would or not.

dang - I'm sorry
glad you are still able to enjoy the blooms at least - maybe the plant will compensate with a new spike

I showed a mini phal at my society's show in late Feb. The spike got broken off and stuck back in the bark potting media. To my astonishment, it lasted for 6 weeks, just in the media with weekly watering.
The idea of using soda is to have some sugar in it to keep the osmolarity to the point where the water does not suck the salts out of the flower and make it wilt. That's the idea behind "flower food".
