WELL!!!!! THE BIG WAIT IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........and unless venosa colors fade in as the bloom ages, I think we have a misnamed plant on our hands! The colors are half-way in between these two photos

But do you think this is Penang Girl? Like I do see a bit of orangey tints running up the tepals, but for the amount of violacea influence I see, it is almost like the violacea was 4n, and the venosa was 2n. I SOOOOOOO hope this is not the case, and that the orange colors will intensify, because I plan on doing breeding with this one, maybe with amboinensis? And rangiku, I do know that all of the plants but Yin's Green Jewel are species. I want to try some breeding, and I want to start with species, instead of getting two random nice looking hybrids and throwing them together!

Since they were seedling crosses, they could look more like one parent than another. Very nice! Any fragrance yet?

These were seedlings breed by Paramount? There is a very faint sweet smell, almost like bubble gum! and this is still opening, and the orange colors are still intensifying!

Cody, here is a link to a lot of Penang Girl photos. Quite a few differences with one or the other parent's influence showing on each one. Hopefully some orange will come thru as it matures or maybe when it grows it's second bloom spike although I know you won't want to wait that long.

Yeah, I guess you are right, I did see a few photos of plants that where pretty much looking like a violacea with the color spread out more!

Keep us posted as to if the colour changes as the bloom matures. It's a lovely colour as it is! Is it going to show and tell at the society meeting?
