Default Strange phal leaves

I'm not so good at pics. so I hope this shows what I'm talking about well.
This phal was given to me by a friend a while back. She had had it a long time.
Look at the leaves, they are weird. It grows and spikes well. The spike on it currenrly is about 3' long and grows out straight sideways. the base of spike is twice the size on normal spike I have seen in diameter. I kind of like it like that, just wish I knew the leave problem.
I have that spike propped up on back of the swing because it goes straight out. The leaves have been like this a long time. But it just keeps chugging along
Thanks for looking , Gladys

It looks as though the crown sustained some sort of damage at one point.......possibly chemical damage from spraying and leaving chemical solution in the crown?

How often do you fertilize? What do you fertilize with and how strong?
How old is that spike?
It might need to be cut back to allow the energy to go back into the plant to strengthen it.

There are wrinkles present in a few of the leaves, indicating it been too dry for too long at times. Could be due to a loss of roots also. A plant that large would dessicate quick with out a healthy bunch of roots. The large newer leaf appears to have a bit of variegation-type streaking near the crown. Could be nutrient deficiency. If you provide it with consistent watering and fertilization, the new leaves will probably come out just fine.

The plant has suffered a quite a bit of mechanical damage and it also looks as if it has been grown too dry or has root loss as Dave mentioned. A little TLC and it should be just fine although the damaged leaves will never look any better the new leaves as they are produced will cover them to some degree. It probably should have the potting medium replaced.
