It might be perfectly natural. What kind of orchid and how long have they been open?

Is it one you've just bought? Sometimes the change in conditions when you buy them can cause the buds to blast.

I've had several buds blast this year and I'm not really sure why, one or two buds on each Phal/Den over a couple of months. I think it's down to fluctuating temperatures in our house this winter.

Ok thanks guys for the reply but here is my problem, I live in an apt building and i have no control over the heat even when is always nice and warm it looks like there is a fluctuation in the temperature at some point. I have the orchids in the windowsill with the humidity trays and a grow light and they look pretty healthy now i dont know if i should get a warm mist humidifier or a mini heater. The heater will just make things dryer I NEED HELP with this
