Spike with nowhere to go
I have a huge mounted noid phalaenopsis. I got it this summer, right after it finished blooming for cheap from walmart. i mounted it after bringing it home. it barely fits under the light fixtures as it is. not it has decided to spike. asdly, there isnt really anywhere for the spike to grow. the spike has doubled in size since the pictures.
what should i do??

Move your plant slightly to one side of the lights, and train the spike to go around/above; I'm sure you can figure something out...

I grow some of my phals in a natural position rather than staking. They often grow up for a while and then start drooping downwards. Of course you never know for sure so just keep an eye on it for now.

If I did that, it would go of te shelf and the blooms would all be facing away.

What do you mean? If it does that then the spike would be hanging towards you.
If it does continue to grow upwards, couldn't you remove from under the lights and put in near a window? When my phals developing spikes get too tall for the lights (but before buds appear), then I move them to a table by a south window, and the spikes finish growing there.

I meant. If I let the spike cascade down off the shelf, won't the blooms be facing towards the light? (I.e. backwards, away from the viewer)
I should've zoomed out more in the pic. But the lights are immediately where the picture ends. So If I zoomed out even a tiny bit, you'd see part of the fixtures

What about turning it sideways on the shelf, so that if the spike does cascade the buds will all be under the light so they'll all face up?

Don't worry about it. I don't know what your growing area is like, so I'm sugesting things that I have no idea if their do-able or not.
As for staking, it would look a bit strange on a mounted Phal (but maybe that's because I've only seen them hanging naturally), and how would you attach the stake? There's no medium to stick it in.
I would think that it your spike doesnt bend over right away, it probably will once there's the weight of big fat buds.

There is a tiny possibility of being able to do what you suggested ( sideways on a shelf ) if I do that, I'd have to make sure te spike growths more outdated than upwards. I don't know how to ensure it goes outwards instead of upwards
