I'm with Ryan, you pay for what you get. I've always been thrilled with plants from Big Leaf Orchids.

Definitely check out Sapphire Dragon Orchids. They are breeding some neat primary hybrids and have quality plants. P. Equalacea is very rewarding, easy to grow and bloom and very fragrant. A few other places to check are Orchidview, Brennan's, Al's Orchid Greenhouse, Clown Alley Orchids, and Orchidaceae.

I agree with previous posters. You often get what you pay for, but not always. I have cheap orchids I love. I have expensive orchids I love.

This flower was $25. It now has an AM/AOS

Princess Kaiulani 'Chin Yo' AM/AOS

The Red Dream you posted is $65 at Norman's. THIS is $50 at Big Leaf and its amazing. THESE at Big Leaf are seedlings, so you don't know what you might get, but they should smell great.

Violaceas and Bellinas at Orchidview are $35 and they will make your whole grow area fragrant.

The Little Greenhouse near Baltimore has some nice novelties. They are older crosses and the form on the flowers isn't as perfect as we think of today, but its still good and they are amazing flowers. They don't have web page.

I have to say that, in general, good novelties at any price that you and I like are going to be hard to find. There just isn't that many people growing or selling them these days.

Lastly..... price be darned.... you just can't beat these for flower and fragrance.

Joy Spring Canary 'Joy' AM/AOS
The hybrid Joy Spring Canary has an AQ/AAOS

Joy Spring Canary 'Joy' AM/AOS

Joy Spring Canary 'Orange'

Joy Musical Notation 'Tina'- my favorite. Was awarded, but I'm not sure what it got.

Joy Spring Canary (JSC159)- does not have a cultivar name

Sorry... got carried away :-)

I've picked up a lot of good information from this thread. Thank you all. Ben, those are terrific pictures. I don't understand why these small phals aren't more popular. I think they're great. If it wouldn't be too much trouble could you post the names of the plants in your pictures. Thanks again

Ben, I am drooling...I too like the small novelty Phals because I don't have enough space for the Big Leaf guys.

Would you post the names that go with your pictures?

I feel my want list expanding again.
