Ease of Culture, Phal. violacea or coerulea?
Cool Ease of Culture, Phal. violacea or coerulea?

Hi guys, I am on the hunt for either a Phal violacea or coerulea. Is one easier to grow than the other or are they much the same? I have been growing in east/north east windows without benefit of supplemental light or humidity other than standing pots on gravel in water and a humidifer in another room. I would appreciate it if any of you would tell me that I am setting myself up for orchid heartbreak or not.

Be honest; I am tough, I can take it! (really)

Regards m

I am no phal expert but I will try,
since violacea are from the humid forests of borneo they may require high humidity. I recomend a hybrid of it instead, they seem more vigorous in household conditions.

okay thanks Fren, i just found out that the Foothills Orchid Society is doing an order up at their next meeting so I will see if I can order a violacea through them. Your comment about a hybrid is a good one and I will certainly keep it in mind. regards m
