I really love it.

I'm not sure what it is about your Phals but they don't look anything like the flower shapes and colours in the mass market... and that's exactly what I love about them!

I really want to get more of these types of Phals, both species and hybrids, so I'm avidly taking notes on the names of your hybrids.

I've made a start with a species of belina which has started spiking for me but really must try and find some of these hybrids!

Rosie, I totally agree. I turned my nose up to Phals for years because all I ever saw offered where big standard whites and pinks. I discovered "novelty" Phals and was completely hooked.

I agree. When I first got into orchids, I was not into Phals at all. Then I found novelties. Now that's 97% of what I have. I have 4 Paphs, no Catts, a few Dens and about 4 Oncidiums. The other 200 are novelty Phals. There are some amazing standard type Phals, but they are just not my thing.

I'll do my best to keep teasing you :-)

No wonder you always have such great pics. I like my standard phals... but at arround 20 of them I just don't want any more like that... but the novelty ones, now those I really MUST start collecting!

Rosie-- Ben has been sharing with me some of his plants and they are amazing. I have never bought any novelty phals, but do have some violaceas and bellinas now-- however, I hope to submit my first order for some from Big Leaf Orchids soon (a little b-day present to myself).

They are more costly-- but they are also amazing, too. The one I really want to get is a phal speciosa. Its the species that is all white, except when grown in high light, and then it develops these beautiful random red petals.
