Unhappy Wilting Flowers

Hello Everyone,

The Orchid killer needs help again, lol.

My son and I repotted his Phal. We were gentle and used only distilled water. We soaked the Orchid mix overnight before repotting and we put the plant back in it's old spot.

Now the flowers are wilting down. Everything else seems ok. The stem and the new buds still look vibrant.

What did I do wrong now? I was really hoping I wasn't going to kill his, lol.

Vicky

Other than maybe re-potting when it's flowering, I don't think you did anything wrong. Also the flowers may have been around a while and they were on their way out anyway. You say the rest of the plant looks great, so sit back, relax, and enjoy it.

well - I try to avoid repotting when in bloom - but most Phals handle it well. Phals especially are frequently sold potted in a lot of packed moss, which makes it extremely easy to over-water and rot the roots in a very short amount of time, so many people repot new Phals right away - in bloom or not.
Better to sacrifice a few blooms than the whole plant ...

And I have repotted some phals while in bloom that didn't seem affected by it at all - so it may be your blooms were ready to wilt anyway ...
