Wink Mini Phal - extreme makeover

Hubby and I went to Ikea the other day to get some shelving and I couldn't help but go and look at their noid phals. I was given 4 phals from there by my grown up kids for Mothers day so I didn't expect there to be any different ones. Well they had miniatures, at first I thought they only had white but hiding in a corner was a tiny bright yellow/wine coloured one. It was the only one there and to be truthfull it was a mess. I asked if they would reduce it because there was only one bloom on it and it was kinda scrunched up. All the others were white and had two spikes each. Well they wouldn't so I had to buy her anyway and I'm glad I did because she is full of surprises.

I have named her Cinderella.

Cinders before her make-over

On one side she has a spike with a keiki and the keiki is producing it's own spike!

On the other side she has a basal keiki which also has it's own spike!

The main spike stem has one bloom and one bud.

Top view showing, keiki, mother plant and basal keiki. Mother plant has damaged crown.

Close up of spike with keiki and it's own spike emerging.

All these roots belong to the keiki on the spike.

R to L - Stem keiki, main plant, basal keiki and all with spikes.

Basal keiki with developing spike

Cinderella repotted.

Cinders after her extreme make-over...you shall go to the ball!

Hope you enjoyed her story folks!

What a great looking little Phal! Those basal keikis are a nice bonus too. Watch out if Cinderella goes to the ball, she find run away with a prince charming.

Is there any way of knowing if a post has been removed from a thread. I got an email saying a member (it gave the id) had posted on this thread. When I looked there is no post on here by that member. I'm just wondering if it was spam and was removed?

If you got a notification for a post that was no longer there, that means that it was removed by a moderator, usually because it was spam. Spammers were quite busy today, so that's likely what happened.

Thanks Camille, I thought that was probably what had happened.

Yeah, as Camille has said, the spammers were busy today and it is likely to be a spammer.

Except in extream circumstances we don't remove posts unless it is either spam or very offensive. If a user deletes their own post there will still be a 'post deleted' line, but if it has completely gone then it will be a moderator who has removed it.

What a pretty mini! I have totally fallen in love with these. I have 2 so far but would definitly pick up more.

Slightly off topic, but would any of you mini owners know how large these can eventually get (leafspan) or do the leaves stay about that size?
