I'd avoid Walmart orchids. Try to find a reputable grower you can buy/order from.

we dont have walmart in eu, but we have a lot of supermarkeds selling phal-hybrids -and i got a LOT of them! they are hard keeping alive and if i were you i would go and buy A CHID FROM A REAL ORCHID-FARM!
i only buy chap chids when they are on discount and need to be saved!

Generally speaking, they're not worth it. Better to invest in a guaranteed healthy plant from a reputable grower.

One does not simply walk into Walmart...there is evil there that does not sleep...

I have lots of Supermarket Phals that are healthy and happy...

... BUT I would advise ordering from a proper reputable grower. The supermarkets are somewhat hit and miss on the quality. Also if you only look in the supermarkets you will miss a whole world of Phals which you would never see in the supermarket (whch mostly just sell an homogonised all the same except the colour, version of a Phal).

Same here... but I buy online. I'm afraid I can't recomend anywhere as I'm in the UK, but I know there are growers based in Canada who have been recomended here before.

I've purchased several Walmart phals in the past and have not really had a problem. I have not gotten one in full bloom, they have been rescues but relatively healthy. I don't really have an orchid greenhouse near by either.

I recently purchased a beautiful one at Home Depot. Since I am new to orchids I was afraid that I would kill an expensive orchid. My HD one looks very healthy. I wanted to get some practice in with a less expensive one. It has two beautiful spikes and large healthy leaves.

I bought 1 from Walmart. The label said just add ice. It kind of freaked me out but she seems to like it. Have had it for 6 months and has put out 2 new spikes. Just 3 regular ice cubes 1x week. I have also started using ice cubes on 1 catt hybird and so far all is well with that one also
