NOID Phal Male
Default Successful ID!

Success! I just received the following information from the fine folks at Floricultura in the Netherlands:

"This variety is registered at the RHS as Phal. Miva Charlotte and is concern the varietal name 'Margarita'.

Best regards,
Floricultura
J.H. Post"

So there you have it. Phal. Miva Charlotte! Thanks mspatt - I wouldn't have been able to hunt this one down without your help.

Jrodpad, Sure does look like the same orchid!! But the only way to find out the parentage would be to contact the grower or maybe nurseryman in your case (I got mine at a big-box store). I'm at a total loss with their Dutch language, but if you pursue this lead, I'd be curious to know what you find out. Drop me a PM, would you?

NOID Phal Male
Default RHS Results

I bumbled my way through the RHS website and found our little Margarita - and her parents! Here's a link to the RHS results:

The International Orchid Register | Royal Horticultural Society

And here's the scoop:

Phalaenopsis Miva Charlotte
Genus Phalaenopsis
Epithet Miva Charlotte

Registrant Name Michel Vacherot
Originator Name Michel Vacherot
Date of registration 3/2/2000
Seed parent: Phal. Barbara Golden
Pollen parent: Phal. Arromanches

Now I've got something to write on the tag.

She's a little early this year... But such a delight.

Don't want to over-share, so here is a close up instead.

It's a very cute phal and I love the shape, but the only 'Margarita' I can find at RHS is Phalaenopsis Margarita Lime... So you may have a possible ID for you Phal, but the name is not registered.

I have the same problem with one of my NoID:s. I think I stumbled upon its name out of pure accident yesterday; Phalaenopsis Abudance (yup, it's spelled that way) BUT this name isn't in the RHS either so it's a named NoID now... I get seriously mad at the nurseries that don't register some of the names... I'm going to send an email to the nursery and ask if the hybrid is more know under another name, or if they plan to register it.

Without a proper name, how on EARTH did you find it? Please share your secret.

NOID Phal Male
Default True Colors

I take pictures of this particular phal all the time and can't get a shot that's even close to the actual color. It's always too yellow or too peach or just not quite right. My wife (who is a photo wiz) snapped a few and captured the closest picture I've ever seen to the real thing.

This is one of my all time favs, so sorry for the multiple posts but I can't not share.

Its a lovely flower. I specifically like the color and form. I am glad you were able to trace its name and lineage.
