Hello Dino777 and welcome,
I love this hybrid, and was looking for it for a long time, but now I found it and have two types of clones with the same name,
Doritaenopsis Acker’s Sweetie ‘Dragon Tree Maple’.
You can read about it in this thread:
Desperately seeking a particular hybrid
And some of my pictures here:
Desperately seeking a particular hybrid
It’s a fantastic hybrid with very attractive markings, but very hard to find here where I am in England. Most of the nice Taiwanese hybrids are not available here. It seems to be just a lot of basic pinks and whites here, and only the more interesting ones in specialist nurseries, and they are not cheap.
It’s nice you have an orchid nursery, and I’ve thought about importing them to sell here but I’m still looking for good deals because the freight costs, CITES and phyto certificates are not cheap and it only makes sense to import several thousand babies, say 6cm pots and grow them on to flowering size. You can send me a private message if you want to talk about it more.
About this hybrid, it was a cross of
Doritaenopsis Ho's French Fantasia × Doritaenopsis Taisuco Candy Stripe by an unknown breeder. It received an AOS award and needed to be registered and so was registered by Chuck Acker in 2003, hence the name
‘Acker’s Sweetie’.
The
‘Dragon Tree Maple’ part as far as I can find out is a different seedling of the same cross by a Wang Bi Jiang and registered later and also won first prize in the Taiwan International Orchid Show.
On the ones I have, one of them has 11cm wide flowers. Can I ask how big are the flowers on the ones you sell as an average size?
