Hi dino,

Unfortuately your links are not working correctly. I tried editing them to get them to work and still can't. It seems once my machine has cached the images by going directly to the website I can see them once here, then after a refresh of the page they disappear again. It may relate to the way the google groups site works and something in that which is not compatible with posting images here in this way. We've ocasionally had other sites which have a similar problem.

I've added them as links as well as images so if others have the same problem they can click on the link to see them. Although even that works strangly as it asks the user to download the attachement before it will show the pic. I think it is that feature of google groups that is messing up the images.

Anyway, they are gorgeous flowers. Really nice ones.

I love the symmetry and uniformity of the spike on this one. Very nice indeed. I wonder, how does one achieve this? My guess is that when a spike is developing, the light source remains in a constant position. That way all the flowers will grow "towards the light." Very nice-- thanks for sharing.

Hello Dino777 and welcome,

I love this hybrid, and was looking for it for a long time, but now I found it and have two types of clones with the same name, Doritaenopsis Acker’s Sweetie ‘Dragon Tree Maple’.

You can read about it in this thread: Desperately seeking a particular hybrid

And some of my pictures here: Desperately seeking a particular hybrid

It’s a fantastic hybrid with very attractive markings, but very hard to find here where I am in England. Most of the nice Taiwanese hybrids are not available here. It seems to be just a lot of basic pinks and whites here, and only the more interesting ones in specialist nurseries, and they are not cheap.

It’s nice you have an orchid nursery, and I’ve thought about importing them to sell here but I’m still looking for good deals because the freight costs, CITES and phyto certificates are not cheap and it only makes sense to import several thousand babies, say 6cm pots and grow them on to flowering size. You can send me a private message if you want to talk about it more.

About this hybrid, it was a cross of Doritaenopsis Ho's French Fantasia × Doritaenopsis Taisuco Candy Stripe by an unknown breeder. It received an AOS award and needed to be registered and so was registered by Chuck Acker in 2003, hence the name ‘Acker’s Sweetie’.

The ‘Dragon Tree Maple’ part as far as I can find out is a different seedling of the same cross by a Wang Bi Jiang and registered later and also won first prize in the Taiwan International Orchid Show.

On the ones I have, one of them has 11cm wide flowers. Can I ask how big are the flowers on the ones you sell as an average size?
