Dtps. Sin-Yuan Golden Beauty
The colors are off on this, my newest bloom. I imagined it a lot more vivid in color but having only recently acquired it, I'm hoping the feeding and culture I follow will yield better results next season. I still like it a lot but it isn't quite what I was expecting. I think, though, that if I didn't take such a bad shot of it, it would right away look better! I don't know what I was thinking, other than I had my 9 m/o daughter yanking on my pants leg wanting my attention when I did this shot.

Ryan, I think the colour is lovely. If next time is going to be even better I'll really look forward to seeing that!

It looks lovely.
My Sin-Yuan Golden Beauty is a lot yellower with pale pink veins against the yellow. I'm sure I posted pics of mine here before but can't find them now. I have some pics on my Picasa page all though they are not the clearest.

I've seen some pics online with it having much darker pink veins, and it probably does vary as these plants are not clones there could be some variety.
I quite like the pink tint yours has

Rosie-- looking at yours and then again at the same plant on the website where I got it, there appears to actually be several variances of this plant-- I happened to choose the wrong inventory number on the venders' site-- so my fault! I like the flower, but it isn't want I really wanted-- certainly isn't their fault-- so I may order another plant and keep this one anyway. I mean honestly, how awful can it really be to keep an orchid??? LOL Wonderful photos BTW-- thanks for sharing them!
Here are the links-- take notice to the names...

Actually-- looking at my order email, it looks like I DID get the right one-- but still it looks so far off. I don't know what to do. I'd rather not order another only to get the same bloom I didn't expect.

I looks like the first link as a clonal name 'Fairy Tale' which would usually mean the plants should be a clone of that and have the same appearance.
With any cross there can be a lot of variation caused by the variation in the parent species, but a clone should always appear the same.
Having said that you would probably have to check with the seller if 'Fairy Tale' is really a clone name or not.

Thanks Dino! I'm only now beginning to appreciate the "yellow" group of phals.

Thanks for the info, Rosie. I will have to look into it further. Having recently moved into a new house I'm finding it difficult to give all my plants the attention they need so I'll hold off until life settles a bit. Good thing is, I went from a North-facing apartment with no sun to a house with a sunroom that, obviously, has loads of sunshine! So much so I may need to re-evaluate how I'm growing my phals, though they do not yet show signs of having too much light.

Ryan,
I think yours looks better than the one selling online.
You did well!
