a strange new development

I have a phal that seems to be actually developing into two seperate crowns at the tip.

It has always grown well and is a big plant but seems to actually splitting in two directions now ....Will get a picture soon to post.

has anyone ever seen a phal actually spilt at the top into two leads?

John, years ago I did see one large white phal that developed a second crown. It branched when it was about 5 inches tall. Both crowns where approximately the same height. The height of the crowns were over 1.5 feet tall and it was loaded with many pairs of leaves. It was a monster.

Can't say I've ever seen this happen.

It is just a monster plant and is growing really well.

its already a foot tall with 13 or 14 big leaves and this winter rebloomed on two old spikes and one new spike so its very healthy The top of the crown has two leaves wich are both facing inwards and look like they are going each be a new crown from this point.

I have one doing the same thing. I think the crown became damaged and the plant sent out a basal Keiki, but the original crown wasn't bad enough that it wouldn't grow so wah lah, two crowns.

Really interesting to see them both forming together at the same point like that. Really does look like that's about to split John. Never knew they could do that, I've come accross pics like Terries before when a basil keiki starts but the original crown carries on, but this seems something different.
