That is the reason why I have been after this for so long.
The markings/patterning are a work of art.
It is going to look amazing once it is in full bloom.

You said it Jay, “work of art”, and it is!
I look forward to those pictures very much.

Fair enough, I understand completely, the current Phals I have are all Noids, but chosen for their flowers.

If you do want to try and confirm the name thing though, you may try tracking the supplier of the Nursery from where the plant came... You never know.

But if you're happy with it who cares. The point is it should please you

As a point of interest here's a Link that may interest you, Regarding Phals and their oh so numerous guises

Phalaenopsis primary hybrids.

(Still trying to get my head around how many are actually out there... Species, Hybrid or Noid... So much choice! )

I've seen Acker's Sweetie 'Dragon Tree Maple' listed on just about every Taiwanese nursery and export company's wholesale list, so with time i think you should be able to find this plant no problem. I only bought a small number because i believe it's not too long before this will be very common and fairly cheap.

I think the one listed on orchideen market is it, just a first flowering or very poor flowering of it. It might have lost a bit of quality through mass cloning as well. It's not uncommon for retailers to take off the first registered name and insert their own, so
"Elegant dragon 'tree'" is probably Acker's Sweetie 'DTM'... I recognise a whole bunch of common clones on that site and they're all poorly and incorrectly re-named.

An update:

Good news! I got this hybrid at last.

The weird bit was there are several out there as we’ve discussed, and I bought two versions, and I love them both. The only tricky bit is getting the colour correct in the photos, and I’ve not managed to do that so left them as they were. Tweaking in photo software just messes up the others colours, so I decided to leave it.

I love this hybrid and its patterns.

I made a purple colour to show the actual shade, or close enough on a computer screen to give you an idea. This colour block is closer to the actual shade than the more reddish tone in the photos.

I am very happy with my two new orchids; and thank you very much JayB, for all your help in tracking down this hybrid. You have been very helpful, thank you.

It is great to see you have finally tracked down this phal.
Good pics.
I know what what you mean about reproducing the colour on camera.
Glad to be of some help.
