Phal still blooming but end of stem has turned brown

Hi! I am a new member. I am growing a phal in my office. It was doing extremely well in this setting under the artifical lights. It has a humidity tray and I have been misting leaves occasionally, and watering when needed. A couple of the blooms have dropped off but the end of the stem is turning brown and this brown part is getting closer to the live blooms. Should I cut off the brown stem to the part where its still green?

Yes, cut the brown and stop misting. Orchids don't absorb through their leaves; mist air roots. This can only lead to rot, especially if water sits in the crown for any length of time. Water on the petals can cause brown spots and may lead to petal blight (Botrytis).

When you cut off the brown portion off the spike it would bea good idea to put cinnamon on the cut. It has fungicidal properties.

Thank you, so no misting at all? Also, will it hurt the blooms if I am cutting a big portion of the main brown stem down pretty close to where the blooms (nodes?) not sure of terminology but the stems that stem off from the main stem that have the blooms on them

Flower spikes are a "one way highway". so as long as you cut to healthy green stem, there is no benefit from using cinnamon on the cut end; fungal/bacterial infections will not get into the main body of the plant. Yes, there is no need to mist the leaves. Having said that, I do mist my plants. I have a greenhouse and in the summer, as way to cool them down, I mist. The water dries by nightfall and I never allow water to stand in the crown overnight!
