fertilizing phals and root question Female
Default fertilizing phals and root question

Wow, this is my first thread - lets hope i do it right

Ive got 2 questions for you guys. . .
The first one is - how often do you guys fertilize your orchids and does it depend on times of year or the rate they are growing etc? As you can probably tell im new to orchids, i have 2 phals which i havnt had all that long. The first one i got was on my birthday a month ago an i got my second about 2 weeks ago and im scared to kill them!! But im definately obsesed with them already!!
My second question is my purple phal which ive had the longest looks healthy but the roots are worrying me a little, its in a clear pot so i can see them and there doesnt seem to be very many roots, a few are black and look unhealthy but it worries me that they arnt very much and are all over one side of the pot. My second phal has loads of really healthy roots and this orchid doesnt worry me at all. Hope u cam help.

Also quickly from what i have read my purple isnt all that old but my white on is older because of the amount of leaves and blooms is that right?
Thanks for any help guys, i appreciate it

Hi Ashleigh, when you say you hit the attach button, is that after you click on "Go Advanced", then in the next page click on "manage attachments" then browse for picture right?
Sorry,I can't help you with phals. I just tie them to trees, anybody's tree and forget them. They do great.

Have you tried using a different browser to see if it solves the problem?

How large is the file you are trying to attach? I might be too big to upload, though I don't know why it would disconnect the internet.

Normally when you try to attach a photo that is too big it just tells you that the file exceeds the file limits. Cutting off internet is very very strange!

If it still doesn't work, you can try hosting your photos on Flickr, or Webshots or another photo website and then insert the link to the image in the post.

Hmm, no idea why that might be, nor does my hubby who diagnoses this sort of thing for a living. Very very strange.
