Why is it the only time you post is to tell someone the name of their orchid is wrong?

Because i'm a botanist and I don't like when plants are sold for what they are not
So if you buy a tetraspis var. alba more expensive than a "normal" tetraspis, that's not fair from the seller...
YOur tetraspis var alba will probably get red marks in some years... I also have a tetraspis labelled var alba (which I didn't pay). During 2 years the tepals were white (but not the lip) and then red marks appeared
But if you want to buy orchids for what they are not, you do what you want

Maybe I should just keep my big mouth shut but....some intervention is called for, IMHO, because this is a great forum and wonderful people and life is much too short for nasty attitudes among any of us.
Having said that, I think both Terri and Orchid make good points. Orchid, I think Terri's point is that there might be a more tactful compassionate way of telling someone who is new to orchids that a name may be incorrect. On the other hand, Orchid your point is very well taken. Vendors should have enough pride in their business and respect for their buyers to do a better job of "quality control." It is absolutely wrong to sell something fraudulently for inflated prices to unsuspecting people. This is unethical and immoral but then these sorts have no ethics nor conscious.
Bottom line.... let's keep this a friendly experience and a place we can all share and enjoy the education and learning that makes this forum sooooo much better than others out there. Just think about the liberties we share on this site that DO NOT happen on other sites. This is not to say constructive criticism has no place, here. Just sometimes there might be a better way, PM/email, to be respectfully informative. So let's keep our "G Rating" and inform and educate and enjoy .... remember we all started someplace before we got to where we are... and even some of us, including yours truly, are still learning.
OK, I'm done now.... and I've had my morning cup of brew so I'm ready for all the slings and arrows...

I don't think there was anything bad in my answer ??? I just said there was no tetraspis var alba...
And... well... My post was an answer to Royal post... with more than 3'000 posts, I don't think he is new to orchids ?? Am I right ?
And what to say about Quiltergal ? More than 4'200 posts... so I think not new to orchids too...
And it is not because I have only 35 posts that I'm new to orchids

But well... sorry but I don't understand your reactions... I just wrote tetraspis var. alba doesn't exist, nothing else... and then everybody jumped on me ? Why ?? Did I say something wrong ?? I don't think so... but maybe it's because english is not my mother language that I don't understand all the subtilities of the language...
Well, if someone was hurted by my answer, explain me why... In what way my answer was hurting ???
I think i better quit this forum if I can't say to someone that the plant he has is mislabelled... and nobody can't accept that...

OK, let's step back and move on.... this is getting all of us upset and going nowhere. Orchid your English is just fine. It isn't that you said anything wrong. Recently I posted a picture of a Paph that was definitely NOT as labeled and someone brought it to my attention. It is just the manner in which you wrote your reply that seemed to indicate a ?harsh? tone with all the exclamation marks following your comment. All of us enjoy the fact that we can say what we want as long as we are being sensitive not to denigrate or slander anyone or any business.
So this has gone far enough... time to move on with friendly kinds of things
