Default Phalaenopsis Baldan's Kaleidoscope Update 3/30/07

Okay, here it is with two full blooms. The spike is a dwarf compared to what the original spike was, but at least it's got something to show. And its nothing to put down. Nice glittery flowers!!!
Phals Rock!

Phals really do rock, especially this one. Love the pictures too, the closeup of the lip is just spectacular. Hey.... screensaver!

Very Pretty! I like the soft pink hues and than the POW pink lip color. There's probably a more orchid way to describe that?

My BK lost 2 leaves so is now down to just 2 leaves. The root system is rather poor despite repotting it about 3 months ago. Most others will respond quite quickly to fresh media but BK seems to be sulking. Maybe when the weather warms up it will perk up (its pretty cool in the house these days). In the long run, many of my phals look great one day then in a matter of days, loose several of the leaves then never seem to recoup. I have two that are doing well and 5 that are looking sad. They are growing with paphs that are doing well, so I can't figure out the problem. With space at a premium, I expect the phals will give way to phrags and paphs.

Ok boys and girls, here is an update on my Baldan's. WOW this orchid is a work horse. I got it when it was in full spike and the botany class had just dissected all its flowers. Shortly there after it bloomed a new. That was January 28!! When its first bloom opened. Now, March 31, not only does it still have those flowers, but two new ones on the same spike are opening!!!

And on top of everything else, its growing a new leaf!! I just noticed it today!

However, uhhhhhh, as I was setting up the tripod to take the picture, the tripod accidentaly fell on the orchid and caused this leaf damage. Im sooo angry at myself. I ruined my immaculate Phal.
